Seminars, Events, & Training

The Fair Housing Center will provide instruction about federal, state, and local fair housing laws, reasonable accommodation and modification, and current trends/cases. Resource materials will be provided to the participants. The training fee includes up to three hours of training and training materials for up to 10 participants.

  • $500 for up to 10 persons, and $10 per additional person
  • $100 per hour for additional hours of instruction

The Fair Housing Center will not be responsible for any other costs, including but not limited to promotion, training facility, audio/visual, accreditation, certificates of attendance, or maintaining records of the training.

ABCs of Fair Housing for Real Estate and Property Management Professionals

The Fair Housing Center of Washington is an approved real estate school with the State of Washington Department of Licensing, Real Estate Services Division. The Fair Housing Center is currently offering a course titled “ABCs of Fair Housing for Real Estate and Property Management Professionals.” This three clock-hour course will cover the basics of fair housing law, including the history of the law, protected classes, prohibited activities, liabilities, and remedies. Although the course covers basic fair housing concepts, the course will be appropriate for both beginning and seasoned professionals with an expanded discussion of disability provisions, advertising, and current trends and cases.

The training fee for this course includes instruction, student materials, certificates of completion, and retention of records per Washington Administrative Code.

  • $700 for up to 10 persons, and $20 for each additional person

If the contracting person or organization wants the Fair Housing Center to handle the training registration, the training fee increases to $750 for up to ten persons, and $25 for each additional person. The contracting person or organization would be responsible for costs associated with a training facility and any refreshments. The Fair Housing Center would be responsible for the cost of audio/visual equipment needed for the training.

Additional Fees

If the training location is more than 20 miles from the Fair Housing Center office in Tacoma, Washington, then the following additional costs will be added to the fee:

  • 21 – 30 miles: $75
  • 31 – 45 miles: $125
  • 46 – 60 miles: $175
  • 61 – 100 miles: $200
  • 101 – 120 miles: $300
  • Over 120 miles: $400
