Who We Are

The Fair Housing Center of Washington is a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing fair housing education, outreach, and enforcement services to the residents of western and central Washington. We focus on advocacy, education, complaint investigation, and community development planning.

Our Mission

The Fair Housing Center of Washington exists to prevent and eliminate illegal housing discrimination, ensure equal housing opportunity, and promote inclusive communities throughout Western and Central Washington.

Tacoma Downtown Housing

Our History

The Fair Housing Center of Washington is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1981 as the Tacoma/Pierce County Community Housing Resource Board (CHRB), and in 1995 we became a fully operational Qualified Fair Housing Organization. The Fair Housing Center serves western and central Washington by accepting and investigating complaints of housing discrimination, and educating housing providers and housing consumers to help prevent and address housing discrimination.

We envision diverse and inclusive communities in which public and private sectors collaborate to ensure all people enjoy equal housing opportunity and housing choices are not limited by one or more elements of a person’s identity.
