The Fair Housing Center of Washington exists to prevent and eliminate illegal housing discrimination, ensure equal housing opportunity, and promote inclusive communities throughout Western and Central Washington.
Because of this high level of responsibility, it is essential for individuals interested in board membership to be committed not only to the ideals of fair housing and civil rights, but to the work involved in making those ideals a reality. It is the intention of the organization to include board members who represent a diversity of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, and geographic location, as well as specific skills and professional qualifications. We believe this enables the agency to better represent those populations most affected by discrimination in housing. It is also important that members have the skills to assume the fiduciary responsibilities of the agency.
What is the Commitment?
Board members currently meet virtually on the second Tuesday of the month from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. There are no meetings in July and August. Each board term is 2 years with a maximum of 6 years. Each board member is asked to make a personally meaningful donation to the organization annually.
Language services will be available for any new Board member as requested.
